Southern Soul Wedding Inspiration

We dreamed up this day on the phrase- Southern Soul Inspiration! We loosely based the idea on Allie & Noah from The Notebook- What would their daughter's wedding have looked like?I have to say the day was spot on! From a gorgeous home, to breathtaking florals any spring wedding would be lucky to have, and a fried chicken and champagne wedding lunch menu, we would have been guests at this southern occasion any day of the week! Enjoy!

Cold Pressed Cocktails :: Editorial with the Oxford Exchange Market

I had the pleasure to once again join forces on an editorial with the creative and amazing team at the Oxford Exchange. Our first collaboration was a Tea Pairing/Tea Party, and this time we went over to the O.E. Market to create Cold-Pressed Cocktails, just in time for Summer! Once again, we were featured on Style Me Pretty Living. If you'd like to see more images, and for the ingredients and directions for these tasty beverages, please check out the feature! I'm sure this won't be the last time we collaborate!Cold_Pressed_CocktailsCold_Pressed_Cocktails4Cold_Pressed_Cocktails2Cold_Pressed_Cocktails3Cold_Pressed_Cocktails5Cold_Pressed_Cocktails6Cold_Pressed_Cocktails7

Lilly Pulitzer Inspiration featured on Brides.com

This past summer, I was imagining fresh and fun ideas I could pursue that were outside of the traditional realm of wedding photography. At the top of my list :: A fun shoot with the bride and her bridesmaids at either a lunch or just a fun day at the beach. A few days later, I had coffee with Whitney of Tres Chic Southern Weddings, and we hit it off on so many topics. She mentioned her ideas of a Lilly Pulitzer inspired bachelorette weekend, and I was 100% in. Whitney planned and designed this shoot far better than I could've ever imagined. This shoot had so many layers, and so many gorgeous details. She truly knocked this one out of the park.

How to Make the Perfect Tea :: Editorial

In just over a year of business, the Oxford Exchange has set the bar in Tampa. Their restaurant is booming for breakfast and lunch during the week, and might just be the most popular choice for brunch on the weekends. They also have the most fantastic shop, bookstore, offices, and coffee shop, but perhaps those will be saved for another SMP Living post. On the weekends, between 3-5 they offer Afternoon Tea. We decided to take it up a notch and add whimsical mismatched vintage plates and glassware, and a touch of florals. A special shout out to Courtney with Dishie Rentals for the lovely teacups, plates, and flatware, and Abigail with TeBella Tea for the delicious tea.

For a how-to on how to make a Salted Caramel Latte and a Lavender fog, please check out the feature on Style Me Pretty Living.

Featured :: Southern Weddings Magazine

I'm not shy to admit that photographing my grandparents was definitely a career highlight. So I'm not only excited to have an image featured in my absolute favorite wedding magazine, but to have an image of my grandparents, who have been married for 63 years, is the best feature I could ask for! There are a million reasons I love Southern Weddings Magazine, but perhaps the thing I love most is that they not only feature beautiful images/weddings, but they always remain focused on what truly matters. Which is stated simply at the beginning of this last issue - "I want a marriage more beautiful than my wedding". In line with this notion, they were looking for images and advice from couples married 25 years or more, I knew I had to submit a few images from my shoot with my grandparents!

Please click here for a link to their full blog post

And here is an excerpt from the feature:

When did you know he/she was "The One"? Rita: The only thing equaling the longevity of our marriage is the ironic prelude of our story. On a summer day in Brooklyn, I was in the park with my two closest friends, and two young gentlemen passed by them several times before working up the courage to talk to us and eventually ask my friends out. Those two guys who asked out my best friends were Nick’s best friendsNick: Afterward, I was playing ball and my best friends came up to tell me that they both had dates, and that they saved the best one for me… To which I replied, “oh yeah sure”. So our first time meeting was on a blind date with the two other couples. As it turns out, our friends only lasted a few dates, and here we are 63 years later.My grandparents are a constant inspiration. I'm incredibly thankful to have an image and a part of their history in print.Southern_Weddings_Magazine_Married_63years
