My biggest goal for my business going in to 2012 was to only book clients that are a great fit. So far I've stuck to my goal, and Katie and Erick are a perfect example. They'll be getting married in April at one of my absolute favorite venues, Selby Gardens in Sarasota. The more I learn about them, the more I like them. They're stylish, fun, and really thoughtful. Needless to say, I can't wait hardly wait for spring to come around. Thank you both for everything.
Jessie + Chad :: Dance
What happens when you mix two professional dancers (who happened to be married), and a gorgeous natural setting? Something more beautiful than I could've ever imagined. Dance, and specifically ballet, has a beauty I can hardly put it to words. So finally, I was able to bring together three of my favorite things - nature, ballet, and love. Let's just say this probably won't be the last you see of Jessie and Chad, and the last of dance on my blog. I could not have asked for a better couple.
Caitlin + Rob :: Downtown St. Pete Engagement Shoot
These two certainly make me look good... I wish I could take credit for their outfits, their chemistry, or the beautiful light and weather we had, but I'll just settle for some pretty sweet shots. I can't wait for Caitlin and Rob's wedding at the Davis Islands Garden Club in April, and from what I understand, they're lining up an all star cast of vendors.
Destination Engagement Sessions
Looking through my portfolio, you might guess that many of my engagement sessions are shot outside of Florida. Truth be told, my background in nature photography has led me to some of the most scenic and beautiful locations in Florida and some you might call uncharacteristically "Florida". Sometimes though, nothing can replace Autumn in New England, the soul of NYC, or simply the place where your groom proposed. For those instances, there is honestly nothing I love doing more than a Destination Engagement Session. In order, you'll see - Washington D.C. for the Spring Cherry Blossoms, outside Philadelphia in Autumn, New York City (Central Park), Autumn in Boston, Blue Ridge, Georgia, and finally Chicago. I hope there are many more destinations to come!
Cecilia + RJ - Engagement Shoot
Pulling in to our second location, you can't miss the "no trespassing" sign, but we figured, we're not doing anything wrong. After exactly two frames, someone pulled up on an ATV and told us we had to leave. This might be the only time I was happy to be kicked out of an awesome location. Fortunately, RJ's parents lived only a few minutes from where we were and their property turned out to be perfect! Not only that, I got a chance to see where their wedding will take place in just under a month! Cecilia and RJ were so amazing to work with. So many times through out the shoot, I had to remind myself to stop talking and take pictures. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to shooting their wedding.
Sergio + Vicky :: Engagement Shoot
Retro style, amazing chemistry, and an awesome sense of humor... Three things that made me love this shoot and love working with Sergio and Vicky. I was excited when I first heard about their vintage wedding at the Don Vincente, but I was sold after our initial meeting when Sergio and Vicky said, "we thought about wearing 'I love Justin DeMutiis Photography' T-shirts to this meeting". So since then I knew that we would be a great fit! The two things I couldn't predict are their amazing outfits, and the fact that this shoot would be featured on Ruffled Blog! I beyond excited to get featured on such an amazing and inspirational blog!Here is a link to their feature on Ruffled Blog
Jessica + Derek :: Engagement Shoot
I could create a long list of the things I love about Jessica and Derek, but let me just name three. First, I love that not only is Jessica constantly excited about the engagement shoot and wedding and always running ideas by me, but Derek is extremely involved as well! The second thing, they're great to be around. One of things that stands out from their engagement shoot is when I was telling them how I have an attachment to my old camera bag that I've had for close to 7 years, and Jessica said "Do you want me to take a picture of you with your bag?" The third thing, they know how to dress. Jessica had a wardrobe of J.Crew to choose from in the back of their car. Anyway, on to their engagement shoot! When I initially met with them, they described how they got engaged at Lindey's Restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, and they talked about the charm of the restaurant and cobblestone streets... And then I thought, well if we can't go back to Columbus, I know the perfect place for the engagement shoot! We found an amazing old inn/restaurant where they brought menu's from Lindey's as well as several other fun props. Overall, they were looking for images that had a magazine/editorial feel, and I think I delivered!I know I said I'll only name three things, but I thought I would mention that I also love having dinner with my clients. And Jessica and Derek treated me to Outback takeout at their home last night, where they got to view all of their engagement images for the first time on their HDTV thanks to Apple TV.
