Michal and Jordan :: Goat Farm Arts Center Wedding

In spite of the heavy rain all day and a high of 57 degrees, this wedding was amazing in every way. The Goat Farm is more suited for concerts and the backdrop of District 12 in the Hunger Games, but Michal and Jordan had a vision, and Jade with Jade Lee Events truly brought it to life. While I loved every moment of this wedding, one of the most memorable parts of the day was when Michal asked me to take an ironic picture with her Vera Wang Dress and Jimmy Choo shoes, with her hiking backpack, nalgene bottle, and mac computer. Needless to say, these Michal and Jordan were such a great fit. If you're a Hunger Games fan, you might also recognize this location as "The Capitol", also in Atlanta,  If you love their wedding, please check out their NYC Engagement session.

Rachel + Marcus :: Oxford Exchange Wedding

On any given day, if you ask me where I'd like to eat breakfast or lunch, I will always say the Oxford Exchange. It's common for me to be at the OE at least twice a week. I'm either meeting fellow wedding vendors, or drinking Tebella Tea or Buddybrew Coffee while I dream up crazy and exciting ideas for the future. So long story short, this wedding was near and dear to my heart and it turned out to be even more beautiful than I had imagined. Vendors and guests alike were blown away by all amazing details, both big and small. And how perfect is Rachel's Reem Acra dress from Maliny Elene? So many great vendors, I'm so excited about the feature on Style Me Pretty Florida.

Kelsey + Darius :: Barrington Hill Farm Wedding

For as long as I can remember, I always loved the glimpse of the beautiful plantation estate on I75 in Dade City. Having shot a few weddings at Barrington Hill Farm, it seems to get better each and every time. For Kelsey and Darius' wedding, Barrington Hill was not just a beautiful backdrop, but also significant because Kelsey grew up riding horses there. And if these gorgeous images weren't enough, I'm going to get another opportunity to photograph these two in December with Kelsey's horse in Tallahassee! I can't wait!Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography1Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography3Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography10Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography2Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography8Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography6Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography11Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography5Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography12Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography4Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography7Barrington_Hill_Wedding_Photography9

Featured :: Southern Weddings Magazine

I'm not shy to admit that photographing my grandparents was definitely a career highlight. So I'm not only excited to have an image featured in my absolute favorite wedding magazine, but to have an image of my grandparents, who have been married for 63 years, is the best feature I could ask for! There are a million reasons I love Southern Weddings Magazine, but perhaps the thing I love most is that they not only feature beautiful images/weddings, but they always remain focused on what truly matters. Which is stated simply at the beginning of this last issue - "I want a marriage more beautiful than my wedding". In line with this notion, they were looking for images and advice from couples married 25 years or more, I knew I had to submit a few images from my shoot with my grandparents!

And here is an excerpt from the feature:

When did you know he/she was "The One"? Rita: The only thing equaling the longevity of our marriage is the ironic prelude of our story. On a summer day in Brooklyn, I was in the park with my two closest friends, and two young gentlemen passed by them several times before working up the courage to talk to us and eventually ask my friends out. Those two guys who asked out my best friends were Nick’s best friendsNick: Afterward, I was playing ball and my best friends came up to tell me that they both had dates, and that they saved the best one for me… To which I replied, “oh yeah sure”. So our first time meeting was on a blind date with the two other couples. As it turns out, our friends only lasted a few dates, and here we are 63 years later.My grandparents are a constant inspiration. I'm incredibly thankful to have an image and a part of their history in print.Southern_Weddings_Magazine_Married_63years

Zion National Park

As seasoned backpackers, we should know better… Even though the sun was setting after 9.5 miles of miles of hiking, and our water supply was dwindling, important decisions should not be made at the height of exhaustion, hunger, and thirst. Yet, collectively we decided to send my brother and brandon down the 59 degree river in search of the fresh water spring near backcountry campsite 12... Wherever that might be. After dinner was prepared and our stomachs were full, the darkness of the canyon and the Zion backcountry descended on Ian, Doyle, and myself, and we quickly realized just how rash our decision was. The river was hard enough to navigate during the day, at night would be next to impossible… After 45 minutes with no sign of our comrades, Ian and I ventured in to the darkness, down river, with nothing but our head lamps. Fear and worry gripped us at first, but I quickly realized that prayer would serve us better. After 15-20 minutes of hurried navigation through the dark canyon, Ian and I stopped - I could swear I saw the glimmer of headlamps on the canyon wall ahead. I told Ian I saw lights, he turned to me in surprise and blinded me with his own headlamp, and like the ending of any survival movie, around the corner were John and Brandon holding our empty water bottles. Truth be told, it was well before that moment that I knew this would be a great story to tell. In a word, the top-down Narrows hike was extraordinary. The Narrows held a new and astounding view around every corner, with luminous colors and reflections that illuminated the towering walls of eroded rock and the endless flow of the Virgin River. Yet, this short tale proves that something as mundane as filling water bottles can be the greatest of adventures when you're on a backpacking excursion.While the most popular hikes and features of the park are easily accessible from the incredibly well run bus system; As with any great national park, the true beauty and soul of the land lies in the backcountry. The two best hikes in Zion require backcountry permits, and out of 2.5 million visitors a year, only 80 permits go out per day for each adventure. There's nothing I love like solitude, seclusion, and exclusivity. Well, it turns out that I found a new favorite past time in Zion, scrambling over rocks while trying to find the quickest and most creative route through a river bed. That and the constant threat of a flash flood added to an overwhelming sense of whimsy and adventure I felt in the most remote parts of Zion.Ultimately, this trip was far from our first adventure together, but was our first in the great American Southwest. It was an escape from the heat and humidity of Florida, to a desert landscape of the most epic proportions. It was a place where we felt whimsy, freedom, and above all comaraderie.

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop like autumn leaves." - John Muir

Jade Lee Events

Increasingly over the last few years, I've had the distinct honor and joy of working with like-minded clients. Recently, I've been fortunate to build relationships with some incredible and inspirational artists and business owners in the wedding industry. Jade with Jade Lee Events may have single handedly justified my usage of twitter. About two years ago, I tweeted that I was at a business workshop in downtown Atlanta, and later that night Jade and I connected over dinner. Shortly after we met, Jade referred an absolutely incredible Southern Wedding in Athens, GA. It was a bucket list wedding to say the least. Not only is Jade an absolutely amazing wedding planner, but she's also a super talented floral designer. She has already accomplished so much in her first 5 years in business, I can't wait to see what the next 5 years have in store! Today I'm sending our last wedding together, and a gorgeous peach inspiration shoot  for publication.Jade_Lee_Events1Jade_Lee_Events2

Maigen + Ryan :: Tampa Engagement Session

Well these two could not be any more photogenic... And their one year old pup Madison seems to have taken after them as well. I've been really lucking out lately with some great light and surprisingly comfortable summer weather. The light, the breeze, and Maigen and Ryan's chemistry made my job so easy! I can't wait for their wedding next April... They dressed so unbelievably well for their engagement session, I can only imagine what they'll look like on their wedding day!Tampa_Engagement_SessionTampa_Engagement_Session10Tampa_Engagement_Session8Tampa_Engagement_Session7Tampa_Engagement_Session3Tampa_Engagement_Session13Tampa_Engagement_Session11Tampa_Engagement_Session9Tampa_Engagement_Session4Tampa_Engagement_Session12Tampa_Engagement_Session6Tampa_Engagement_Session5Tampa_Engagement_Session2
